So you've booked your session, signed a contract, and the day of your shoot is fast approaching. How are your feeling? Are you nervous, excited, anxious? A mix of them all? Don't worry, this is completely natural in ANY type of photography, but with Garden of Eve sessions, especially so, as the nature of our shoots are so intimate. So what are some ways to prepare for your upcoming session to ensure you get the best outcome for your investment?
Prior to your session, make sure you are in the best shape possible to capture your inner beauty. What does that mean? Should I not book until I have joined a gym and reach my goal weight?! Absolutely not! Here are some ways to make sure you "put your best face forward"
Face
Skin- consider getting a facial! First, why not primp and pamper yourself prior to your big day? It will leave you glowing and more confident- which will definitely be reflected in front of the lens!
Eyebrows-If you wax your eyebrows, get them done! Those stray hairs may distract you when looking at your final images. HOWEVER make sure to do so about a week prior to your session. This will allow for time for the redness to disappear and make-up to properly adhere. Eyes are one of the first things people look at when looking at photographs- think of eyebrows as your eyes' frames.
Teeth- If you are considering whitening your teeth, be sure to do so early enough to ensure there are no adverse side effects at the time of your session.
Skin
Hydrate! Your body and your skin will thank you. Make sure you drink plenty of water prior to your session- good hydration makes skin smoother and glowing.
Exfoliate- it is a good idea to exfoliate prior to your session to remove dull, dead skin. Do so 2-3 days prior to your session to be sure you do not give your skin a red appearance.
Moisturize!- The more smooth your skin looks in camera, the less editing we have to do- which gives you more natural looking pictures.
Avoid tanning about a week prior to your session- it will not look natural, and we want your images glowing, not orange!
Hair
Avoid any drastic hair changes prior to your session- a big cut or color- we want you feeling beautiful and confident, not stressing over a new haircut you don't-quite-like or a color you're not used to.
If you dye your hair- ensure to touch up prior to your session- you don't want your eyes immediately attracted to grown-out roots in your photos, however be sure to stay clean! We don't want any stray dye on your skin either!
These and other tips are available in the Styling Guide & Information section of your welcome package. This may seem like a lot to consider, but keep in mind that this is your investment, and we want you to have the best finished product possible. We look forward to getting you in front of our lens
